Earthquake Catalogs - Lists

  • ANSS/NEIC Combined Earthquake List
Past 14 days. Using the publically available software QDDS and QDM, we maintain a catalog of earthquakes that merges the catalogs of the NEIC with those of the US Advanced National Seismic System (ANSS) regional networks. The catalog is preliminary and dynamic. It is continually being updated as event parameters are updated, new events are added, and, occasionally, events are deleted. Although the events contributed by the NEIC are always reviewed by an analyst, some of the regional networks submit computer generated solutions initially, which are later replaced by reviewed solutions. This file is intended to be read by computer programs. Description of format for ASCII file. A more readable format is also available.
  • Catalogs, Latest - Last 7 Days
  • Centennial Catalog
  • EXPO-CAT
Provides estimates of the number of people exposed to significant global earthquakes since 1973. Combines earthquakes in the Atlas of ShakeMaps with a gridded global population database (LandScan) to estimate present-day and historical population exposure at discrete levels of macroseismic intensity.
  • Intraplate Earthquakes (495-2002)
  • ISS - International Seismological Summary Earthquake Catalog (1918-1963)
  • PAGER-CAT
Combines high-quality source and casualty estimates gathered from several published catalogs for earthquakes of magnitude M 5.5 and greater. Created for calibration of earthquake fatality and loss estimation models such as those to be used by the USGS Prompt Assessment of Global Earthquakes for Response (PAGER) system.
  • Preferred Magnitudes of Selected Significant Earthquakes (Word file)
    (last updated 2010/01/12)
  • Preliminary Determination of Epicenters (PDE)
The NEIC global earthquake bulletin is called the Preliminary Determination of Epicenters or PDE. We use the word "Preliminary" for our final bulletin because the Bulletin of the International Seismological Centre is considered to be the final global archive of parametric earthquake data (phase pick times and amplitudes). The PDE bulletin goes through three stages of review. To get data for the entire PDE bulletin, files for all three review stages must be down loaded. There are no duplicate earthquake solutions in the files for the different stages of review. When an earthquake moves from one review state to the next the "old" solution is deleted.
  • Unassociated Phase Readings
Station readings that were not associated with any published event. Files have the name format isfarrYYYYMM.dat.Z. ftp://geohazards.cr.usgs.gov/edr/read_me.txt
